/-SLIDE UP \-SLIDE DOWN H-HAMMER ON P-PULL OFF In order to play these licks properly using the alternate picking method,you need to keep the right hand in a constant up/down motion, even when not picking a note. That way the swing of your hand kind of acts like a metronome keeping the notes in time. I've used letters to indicate what the right hand should be doing. 'D'- picked downstroke 'U'- picked upstroke 'd'- unpicked downstroke 'u'- unpicked upstroke So when playing, the speed of the right hand should not change at all during the lick. You'll notice the first lick has 4 sets of triplets-there's two notes played for each downstroke I hope this makes sense. If not, let me know and I'll try to explain it better! lick #2 D U D u D U D U D uD D U D u D U D U D u D e|---8p7-5---------------------------------------------------------- B|---------8p7p5--6/7----------------------------------------------- G|--------------------9-8p7---9--5b--------------------------------- D|--------------------------7-------7-5-----5----------------------- A|--------------------------------------6h7---7-5-0--3/4------------ E|--------------------------------------------------------5--------- lick #3 D u D U d U D U d u D U D u d U d U D u D u d U D u D uD e|------0----------------------------------------------------------- B|--0h2---2p0---0----------------------------------------10-10------ G|------------4---4-2p0---0-----------------------7----------------- D|----------------------4---4p2-0-----5-----7h8-9---9/11------------ A|--------------------------------4/7---7/9------------------------- E|------------------------------------------------------------------
