It's not terribly well known, but I love teaching it to classrooms of K-5 - They think it's hilarious.
Great for the family, sweet melody, fun to sing, and good for Winter into Spring music lessons.
I am not a guitarist, but use guitar in the classroom for lack of a piano.
The Bm may be omitted if you can't play the chord change very well, like me! ;)
In the middle of each verse, you can choose to hold D, or alternate between D & C.
Play around with it and find out what works best for you!
G
There was snow on the ground
Bm Am
But it was a sunny day.
D
We knew that our snowman
Was bound to melt away.
G
So we asked our Mom
C Am
And though it did not please her,
C
She said we could keep
D
Our snowman in the freezer.
Chorus
G
He?s in the freezer,
Am
He?s our snowman.
D
He?s in the freezer,
G
Getting a frost tan.
Em
He?s in the freezer,
Am
Keeps as cold as he can.
D
He doesn?t go to school,
He just keeps cool,
G
In the freezer ?
G
We feed him bits of frost
C Bm Am
And lots of ice cubes.
D
We show him to our friends
When we come home from school.
G
We watch him as he sits
C Bm Am
Next to the frozen squash,
D
?Til Dad shuts the door and says,
G
?It?s starting to defrost.
Chorus
G
He?s in the freezer,
Am
He?s our snowman.
D
He?s in the freezer,
G
Getting a frost tan.
Em
He?s in the freezer,
Am
Keeps as cold as he can.
D
He doesn?t go to school,
He just keeps cool,
G
In the freezer ?
One night at suppertime
C Bm Am
My Mom said it was sad
D
As she told us of the ice cream
That we could have had.
Our snowman was taking up
C Bm Am
All the room it seems,
D
And she didn?t have a place
G
To put our ice cream.
Final Chorus
G
He?s on the sidewalk
Am
And he?s melting fast.
D
You know a snowman
G
Was not meant to last.
Em
It won?t be long now
Am
Before he melts away
G D
And we?re having ice cream
G
For dessert today!
It?s in the freezer!
It?s in the freezer!
